Thousands ride in World Naked Bike Ride

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- It was all bikes and no clothes in Portland Saturday night as thousands of cyclists joined in for the World Naked Bike Ride.

The website said the bike ride "highlights the vulnerability of cyclists everywhere and decries society’s dependence on pollution-based transport."

More than 10,000 people participated in last year's ride.

Portland police said officers were there to make sure everyone stays safe. Police also said while it is illegal to expose genitalia in a public place, they would be "exercising discretion" as long as participants stay on the route with the group.

"People who 'start early' and potentially disrupt other neighborhood events not associated with the official ride may not receive the same discretion," a police press release said.

They also recommended riders at least wear a helmet and shoes.

The World Naked Bike Ride also offered five after-party locations. You can find all information about the ride by going to the event's website
