3-year-old hurt in fall from window

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A 3-year-old boy sustained serious, life-threatening injuries in a fall from a second-story window in Hillsboro Wednesday afternoon.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue said the boy landed on a concrete patio in the home's backyard.

He was taken to the hospital by LifeFlight to be treated for a head injury.

The incident happened at NW 209th and SW Dorado Lane in Beaverton.

The fire department said unintentional falls are the leading cause of non-fatal injuries in children. They want to remind families that screens are meant to keep bugs out, not keep kids in.
