Officer shoots man armed with knife in Beaverton

It's unclear how serious the man's injuries are

BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) -- Beaverton police were involved in a shooting Friday morning by a 7-Eleven near Jesuit High School.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. near SW 93rd and Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, officials said. Police were called to the area because of a man riding a bike around with a knife by the 7-Eleven store.

An employee there told police the suspect threatened them with the knife.

The man also went into the nearby BottleDrop to evade police. A spokesperson for BottleDrop said none of their employees were injured.

Officers found the suspect and then, for reasons currently unclear, officers shot the suspect. The suspect was alert, conscious and screaming afterward, according to police.

Officers treated his injuries at the scene before he was taken to the hospital. It's unclear how many times he was shot.

No officers were hurt.

Jimmy Suggs was on his way to work at the BottleDrop when he realized he couldn't get inside because of the shooting.

"I stood over here, watched everything that was going on for a few minutes," Suggs told KOIN 6 News. "She informed me there was a shooting a couple businesses down and the guy ran into the BottleDrop.  So, I just came back, waiting to hear from her. "

The Washington County Major Crimes Team is investigating and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident. Call the non-emergency line at 503.629.0111 and ask for the Major Crimes Team.
