PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Portland man died Thursday while hiking on Mount St. Helens.
Jason L. Douthit was hiking with 2 other people when he suffered a medical emergency and collapse. He hit his head on a rock, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office said, but it does not appear the fall caused his death. He was 44.
The Clark County Medical Examiner’s office is doing the autopsy.
Other climbers did CPR for more than an hour until paramedics arrived, but he died at the 6700-foot level on the mountain.
