Meg’s Moments gives away life jackets at Barton Park

Megan O'Meara drowned while rafting in the Clackamas River

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Meg’s Moments gave away hundreds of life jackets at Barton Park on Saturday.

Meg’s Moments was started six years ago after Megan O’Meara drowned while rafting on the Clackamas River. Her father Robert believes if she had been wearing a life jacket, she would have survived.

“It doesn’t matter how much you know how to swim — you get in the wrong circumstance, don’t have a life jacket, don’t be safe — you could drown,” Robert said.

Meg’s Moments for Life Jackets handed out more than 1,200 life jackets last year.
