HILLSBORO, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A Hillsboro mini mart remained open Tuesday night after an early evening fire in a neighboring garage caused concern, officials said.

Hillsboro Fire & Rescue crews responded to the one-alarm blaze on the corner of S First Avenue and SE Walnut Street just after 7 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from a structure adjacent to the mini mart.

Within 12 minutes, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. The flames were contained to the garage and the mini mart didn’t sustain any damage.

The owner of the mini mart told investigators a customer came in and told him the side of the building was on fire. They both quickly evacuated the store and called 911.

There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
