Truck in Columbia River linked to man missing since ’93

Missing Persons

The medical examiner will need to confirm whether the skeletal remains are Koen

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who was last seen in August 1993 may have been found in the Columbia River 26 years later.

A pickup truck associated with Maynard Koen, who was 82 years old when he was reported missing, was found by scuba divers at Hat Rock State Park on October 17.

The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office the Ford Ranger was in about 20 feet of water just past the docks. Investigators checked the license plate and linked it to the missing man from Prosser, Washington.

When the truck was towed out of the river on October 19, 2019, deputies found skeletal remains and Koen’s driver’s license inside. The Oregon State Medical Examiner will need to confirm the identity.

Investigators believe the truck went into the water around the time Koen was reported missing.
