GERVAIS, Ore. (KOIN) — Investigators believe they know who the person is that died in an RV fire in rural Gervais on March 31, and they believe they know how he died.
The man — whose name is not being released until dental records confirm it — was driving the RV and looking for a place to sleep when he hit the barn and got stuck in the mud on a farm in the 9300 block of Mt. Angel.
When he got out of the RV to check, the RV caught on fire. Detectives with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office think he went inside to fight the fire, but was overcome by the blaze and died.
Marion County Deputies, Oregon State Police and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
