PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person was shot and a suspect arrested after a standoff with a Deschutes SWAT team outside of Bend Saturday afternoon, said the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office via Twitter.

The sheriff’s office reported an “active incident involving a firearm” around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Bear Creek Road and Ward Road, which is east of Bend. Deputies and SWAT had surrounded the area.

Just before 4 p.m. a suspect was taken into police custody, said the DCSO. One victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. The status of that person’s condition is unknown.

While the sheriff’s office said there was “no active threat to the community,” there was still a heavy police presence in the area as an investigation was conducted.
