The Deschutes County Sheriff said around 4:30 p.m. a “Level 3 (Go Now!) Evacuation Notice due to a fire has been ordered for all residences on Loop Drive, Walker Road, Forest Road, Faun Court, and Prairie View Drive in the Lazy River Subdivision north of Burgess Road.”

An emergency shelter was set up at the La Pine Community Center.

Deputies said fire crews had stopped the so-called “Bridge Drive Fire” from progressing and were working to strengthen the lines around it at around 5:30 p.m.

By about 7:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office said evacuation levels were lowered to “Level 1 Be Ready,” which means residents should be prepared to leave.

Two hours later, the Oregon Department of Forestry said the fire was 100% lined. Fire crews planned to mop up hot spots through the night.

The fire’s size was estimated at nearly 12 acres.

Deputies said no injuries had been reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The road closure on Bridge Drive at Otter Drive has also been reopened.
