PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Authorities have concluded their investigation into a fatal Columbia County hunting accident.

Sheriff’s deputies were called out to a report of a shooting described as a hunting accident just after 9:30 a.m. Saturday. They arrived to find people in a hunting party giving someone CPR.

That person later died at the scene, said the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sunday the sheriff’s office identified the victim as 63-year-old Martin Fox of Portland. Authorities said they did not suspect any foul play was involved in his death.

“It is always tragic when an avoidable incident ends in death,” said Sheriff Pixley in a public statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Fox and the other members of his hunting party.”
