PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two men and a teenager were arrested after an early Monday morning shooting in Salem left two people injured, according to Salem Police Department.
At 12:30 a.m., a Salem police officer patrolling the area of Portland Road and Hyacinth Street Northeast heard gunshots, authorities said.
After finding the scene, the officer found a 47-year-old woman — who was walking her dog – and a 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Authorities said both were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials said an investigation found that two men from different groups gathered on the street and got into a physical fight when the gunfire occurred. According to police, the crowd dispersed, with one group fleeing to a nearby home on Fir Rest Way Northeast.
Authorities searched the home and seized a short-barrel rifle and arrested 25-year-old Jose Miguel Bermudes-Lopez on a parole violation and 22-year-old Christofer Campuzano-Guevara on a second-degree criminal mischief charge.
Officers also arrested a 14-year-old boy who was taken to the Marion County Juvenile Department on a probation violation warrant and took a 16-year-old runaway into custody –who was later released to a parent.
The investigation is ongoing.
