PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — National Get Outdoors Day is on Saturday and the U.S. Forest Service is celebrating by waiving fees at day-use sites in Oregon and Washington.
The fee waiver includes many picnic areas, boat launches, trailheads and visitor centers.
Fees still apply for camping, cabin rentals and heritage expeditions.
National Get Outdoors Day encourages people to get outside and explore their public lands and enjoy outdoor recreation.
“In the Pacific Northwest, we’re fortunate to enjoy an abundance of incredible outdoor recreation opportunities,” said Regional Forester Glenn Casamassa. “The Forest Service is proud to share in the stewardship of many of these special areas and support the multitude of benefits outdoor recreation provides. This Get Outdoors Day, and every day, I encourage you to get outdoors and enjoy your public lands!”
