A man clinging to a log was rescued from the Willamette River on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019. (TVFR)

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man clinging to a log was rescued from the Willamette River Sunday afternoon.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue said the man was not wearing a life jacket when he got into trouble near Boones Ferry Park.

Officials said bystanders in a boat helped firefighters throw him a line to pull him to safety.
