PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A body found Wednesday in the Willamette River in Albany appeared to have been in the water for months, officials said.

The Albany Police Department said firefighters recovered the body from the south side of the river near Takena Landing just before 1 p.m.

An autopsy identified the body as a white man wearing a “Batman” T-shirt and an Oregon State University shirt, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday. He had a tattoo on the lower right side of his abdomen but officials weren’t sure what the tattoo was of. It wasn’t clear how old he was.

His body appeared to have been in the river for 2 to 3 months.

Authorities said there weren’t any obvious signs of trauma or homicidal violence. A toxicology test will be carried out.

Deputies are asking anyone who may know who the man was to contact Lt. Chris Duffitt at 541.766.6858.
