A 22-year-old was critically injured

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two brothers are in the hospital after a fight led to a shooting in Medford early Monday morning.

Medford Police said a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old who know each other were involved in a dispute throughout the evening on Sunday, Sept. 1.

Later, the 17-year-old was home alone on S. Peach Street when the 15-year-old and his 22-year-old brother broke in with a tire iron or similar weapon. Police said they were apparently there to assault the other boy.

The 17-year-old got a rifle and shot the brothers. Police found them at the house on Peach street just before 2 a.m. The younger brother’s injuries are not life-threatening but the older brother was critically injured.

The 17-year-old stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police said alcohol is a factor in the incident.
