IN THE COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE, Ore. (KOIN) — A small landslide spilled debris on the side of an exit ramp along eastbound I-84, forcing ODOT to close that ramp through the weekend.
Exit 41, the ramp to the Northeast Eagle Creek Loop in the Columbia River Gorge, is the affected ramp.
ODOT officials said they are “concerned that more slides will come with the upcoming rains given the bare underbrush stripped away by last year’s Eagle Creek Fire.”
As of Friday morning, debris was still falling.
Exit 41 on EB I-84 remains closed after a small slide spilled debris on the side of the ramp. We’re concerned that more slides will come w/ upcoming rains, given the bare underbrush stripped away by last year’s #EagleCreekFire. https://t.co/9rVCoFqgfP— Oregon DOT (@OregonDOT) December 13, 2018
There’s no alternate route, so drivers are asked to plan accordingly in the meantime.
