PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Sure, it’s summer vacation for students. Kids get to sleep in. But it also means some families aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from.
The federal government estimates 4 million children in the US face hunger during the summer months. That’s why local school districts are partnering with community agencies and the USDA to make sure all children under the age of 18 have access to a free nutritious lunch this summer.
