PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Lebanon man was crushed to death Friday afternoon when a tree fell onto the excavator he was in.

Ronald Gary Oliver called 911 around 3:30 p.m., the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said. He was screaming for help but became unresponsive with the dispatcher. Deputies were able to get his location and rushed to the scene in about 10 minutes.

They found Oliver inside a John Deere excavator on the farm. The 62-year-old was pinned inside and died at the scene, officials said.

There were beer cans in the excavator and also in his personal vehicle, investigators said.
