PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon State completed a dominant weekend on Sunday, beating LSU by double digits for the second straight game en route to clinching a spot in the NCAA Super Regionals.
The Beavers, led by starting pitcher Kevin Abel, shutout LSU 12-0 on Sunday. Oregon State outscored LSU and Northwestern State by a combined 35-4 over three games.
The Beavers will host Minnesota in the super regionals. The Golden Gophers beat UCLA 13-8 on Sunday to secure a ticket to Corvallis.
Abel personified Oregon State’s dominance on Sunday. He struck out eight and allowed three hits over eight innings.
The Beavers’ offensive provided Abel with immediate run support. They tacked on three runs in the first inning, giving Abel all the run production he and the Beavers would need.
