PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Students from Portland public middle and high schools are part of the upcoming PDX Jazz Festival through a program called Jazz in the Schools.
The students learn about the origins of jazz and its connection to the visual arts, and hundreds submitted designs for album covers of what jazz looks like to them.
About 150 pieces wered displayed at The Cleaners, 1022 SW Stark, on Wednesday. Of those, 40 will be chosen for an exhibit at a Portland branch of US Bank.
The PDX Jazz Festival begins February 18 and includes Dianne Reeves, Sonny Fortune and Mel Brown. It runs through February 28.
