PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman leaning against the MAX tracks was struck and killed by a TriMet train just after midnight Monday near the Cleveland Avenue Station, the Gresham Police Department said.

According to police, a westbound train was traveling between the Civic Drive Station and Ruby Junction and it was not able to stop before hitting the woman.

She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police have not released the woman’s name, but they believe her to have been in her late 30s. The train operator did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

The area has been fenced off.

The Blue Line is currently disrupted and running shuttle buses between the Ruby Junction and Cleveland stations until they clear the scene.

This is a developing story.
