COBURG, Ore. (AP) – A fire official says a tractor-trailer pulling a load of pineapples burst into flames and burned for nearly six hours on the shoulder of Interstate 5 near Coburg.

Coburg Fire Chief Chad Minter says no one was injured but the fire early Friday caused about $60,000 in damages.

He says the fire is believed to have been caused by the trailer’s brakes.

The Register Guard says the truck was hauling the pineapples from Arizona to Portland when the driver became concerned that the load caught fire. He stopped the truck, unhooked the tractor and moved it away from the burning trailer.
