KEIZER, Ore. (KOIN) — A Keizer police officer was hospitalized Tuesday after a car crashed into his motorcycle, authorities said.

Officer Tyler Wampler was riding his marked police motorcycle on Chemawa Rod NE near Safeway when a black Mercedes reportedly crashed into him from behind.

The driver of the Mercedes, 39-year-old Tellif McClyde, wasn’t injured in the crash and cooperated with investigators, Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.

Wampler was taken to Salem Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic was slowed in the area while authorities investigated.
