BROOKS, Ore. (KOIN) — A 29-year-old man allegedly tried to trade a pound of weed for a snowmobile listed on Craigslist. But unfortunately for him, the seller turned out to be an Oregon State Police trooper.
Sandy resident Jason Owen responded to the Craigslist ad early last week, OSP said. The seller, who works for OSP in the Salem area, contacted his supervisor when Owen offered a pound of marijuana in exchange for the snowmobile.

The trooper reportedly agreed to meet Owen Saturday to discuss the trade at a Brooks gas station, where an officer in an unmarked police car saw him driving around.
Several marked patrol cars then pulled him over in a traffic stop, OSP said. The Craigslist seller identified himself as an OSP trooper and told Owen his proposed trade was illegal. Troopers allegedly found 1.5 pounds of pot in his car.
Owen was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, delivery of marijuana and driving while suspended. His car was impounded due to his driving status.
A 26-year-old woman who was in the car at the time wasn’t charged, OSP said.
