Car crashes into power pole, outage affects 5,000

PGE's website says the power should be back up by 7 a.m.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A car crashed into a power pole early Thursday morning, causing an outage that left nearly 5,000 customers in Gresham, Troutdale and Portland without power.

Gresham firefighters responded to a crash at Northeast Kane Drive and Northeast 17th Street around 4 a.m. when they found multiple power lines down. The driver fled the scene.

PGE’s website says the power should be back up by 7 a.m.

Meanwhile, NE Kane Dr. is closed between Stark Street and Division Street.
