PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say human remains were discovered near a bridge crossing the Yamhill River, and foul play is suspected.

Sgt. Chris Ray of the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office says a citizen reported the find Friday evening. He says the remains were about three miles west of the city of Yamhill, near a popular swimming hole.

Investigators have unable to tell the age or sex of the remains, and Ray says it could take while to come up with a positive identification.

The sheriff’s office asks for those with information to contact Detective Marc Brodeur at 503-434-7506, extension 4544.
