PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Salem man died when he was ejected from the full-size pickup truck he was driving after it went off a Polk County road Friday night.

Candelario Navarro Jr. was headed north on Maxfield Creek Road around 8:30 p.m. when he didn’t take a curve near Storey Road, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said. He lost control of the 2004 Nissan Titan and went off the road.

The pickup rolled over and the 37-year-old man was ejected. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation although officials said speed and alcohol may possibly be factors.
