PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Seattle Seahawks announced a major change to their on-field personnel Monday: the Sea Gals cheerleaders now feature men and have been renamed the Seahawks Dancers.
The move was announced on social media and on the Seahawks website. The 38-member troupe will now include 8 men.
In a statement on their website, Courtney Moore, the director of the Seahawks Dancers, said, “We look forward to showcasing many different types of dance styles as the team hits the field this fall. We are excited for fans to see what we’ve been working on.”
The Seahawks open the preseason on August 8 against Denver and then begin the regular season September 8 with a home game against Cincinnati.
