PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Warning signs have been posted near Pacific City after a surfer said he came into contact with a “large” shark on Tuesday morning.
According to the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department, the man said he saw the shark heading toward him, so he pulled his legs out of the water.
The shark bit his surfboard, damaging it. Fortunately, the surfer wasn’t hurt and was able to safely make it back to shore.
The Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office responded to the beach before the parks department posted warning signs. A ranger has also been stationed near the beach.
