TILLAMOOK COUNTY, Ore. (KOIN) — Plans are in motion for Oregon’s newest state park, Sitka Sedge State Natural Area, located in south Tillamook County.
The 365 acre area is off Sand Lake Road and was once Beltz Farm. The state acquired the property 2 years ago and is midway through the planning process. Officials plan to open the park next spring.
With Cape Lookout to the north, officials say the park will offer universal access to the Sand Lake Estuary, different bird and wildlife, and 4.8 miles of hiking trails, offering direct access to the estuary from the dyke.
