PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It’s been a long time since Portland Timbers fans have been able to watch their team at home due to renovations at Providence Park.
Fans will get their chance to see the new and improved stadium next weekend at the grand reopening on Saturday, June 1.
To prepare for the big day, the Timbers are hosting two soft opening matches with the T-2 team.
Fans were impressed with the new look and are ready to bring the energy at the official home opener.
Fan Craig Gilbert brought his kids to the match on Saturday, May 25, and said he’s looking forward to coming back for games and seeing the Timbers win.
“It’s exciting, it’s fun,” Gilbert said. “I’m just looking forward to it being bigger and better.”
“I’m getting really excited about the new seats and all the new fans we’re gonna get because the Timbers need everything they’ve got,” young fan Porter Gilbert said.
The Timbers host Los Angeles FC on June 1.
