PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Starting in 2020, the Portland Timbers T2 Club will play their home games at Hillsboro Stadium in a partnership with the Hillsboro Hops.
The partnership was announced by the Timbers and Hops on Wednesday morning. The Hops will take over the business operations for the USL Championship Club including marketing, ticketing and sponsorship sales. The Timbers will continue to own T2 and manage the club’s soccer operations.
“We are excited to partner with such a well-respected organization in the Hillsboro Hops,” said Timbers president of business Mike Golub in a release. “It’s a tremendous opportunity to grow T2’s fanbase and create a dynamic environment for soccer at Hillsboro Stadium.”
In preparation for T2 playing at Hillsboro Stadium, FIFA certified FieldTurf CORE will be installed as the playing surface, the same type as the Timbers play on at Providence Park.
Tickets for the 2020 T2 season will go on sale in January.
