PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A truck carrying a forklift hit the the underside of an overpass while traveling north on interstate-5 on Monday afternoon, causing delays as crews worked to get the forklift back on the trailer.
ODOT spokeswoman Kimberly Dinwiddie said crews had to drive the forklift under the I-5 SB to I-84 EB overpass because it wouldn’t fit if it was on a trailer. That overpass is currently a part of a major resurfacing project by ODOT, which will keep the ramp closed until July 23. Dinwiddie said they will inspect the overpass to see if it was damaged.
Eventually, the process had to close the I-5 NB to I-84 EB ramp, Dinwiddie said.
The scene was cleared by Monday night.
