PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Socks are one of the most requested items from people facing homelessness and that request was granted.
More than 250,000 pairs of socks were donated to the Union Gospel Mission in Northeast Portland on July 18. That’s 51,000 pounds of socks.
The sock company Bombas started a partnership with the non-profit last year. This year it doubled the number of socks delivered.
“As you can imagine, having dirty, wet feet is not only uncomfortable, it can also be dangerous for people’s health,”
Bombas designed the socks specifically for the homeless and for each pair you buy, they donate a pair.
