Unknown white substance found in Coffee Creek mailroom


Four employees were exposed

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responded to Coffee Creek Correctional Facility after an unknown white powdery substance was found in the mailroom on Wednesday morning.

TVF&R has its HAZMAT team on the scene to determine what the substance is. FBI is also on-site to evaluate the powder.

The facility’s staff was immediately evacuated.

Four mailroom employees were decontaminated after being exposed to the powder. They were quickly sent to a local hospital with minor symptoms.
