PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Communities between Longview and Portland will be able to see the Wednesday procession with the body of fallen Cowlitz County Deputy Justin DeRosier.
The procession begins in Longview around 10 a.m. The lengthy route involves both Washington and Oregon plus law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions. The procession will take I-5 south into Portland, to North Rosa Parks Way, then North Willamette Boulevard. At North Portsmouth, the procession will turn left and transition to a walking formation, according to Washingtonton State Patrol.
Since the 29-year-old married father of a 5-month-old girl was slain, there has been an outpouring of support from people near and far.
In a statement, DeRosier’s family on Monday said that even if he knew that call on April 13 would be his last, he still would have gone.
DeRosier’s memorial will begin at 1 p.m. at the Chiles Center at the University of Portland. There will also be a live video feed at New Life Church in Longview.
Kelso Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you consider a donation in Deputy DeRosier’s memory to the Behind the Badge Foundation.
