PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The Bootleg Fire, once the nation’s largest, is now completely contained, the U.S. Forest Service’s Pacific Northwest Region announced via Twitter Sunday.

The fire lasted more than a month and grew to 413,000 acres – more than twice the size of New York City. It started July 6 because of a lightning strike, according to fire officials.
