Northwest could see above normal wildfire season

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Wildfire season is here and a new forecast puts the Pacific Northwest in the danger zone.

The National Interagency Fire Center issued its fire outlook for the season and data shows there could be above normal wildfire potential in Western Washington, Oregon and California.

Wildland fire crews are already training for the inevitable wildfire fights. Firefighters from several agencies will head to Molalla this week to practice.

Some trails in the Columbia River Gorge have reopened after they were closed due to damage from the Eagle Creek Fire.

Reopened trails include the Larch Mountain Trail at Multnomah Falls from the Benson Bridge to the top of the falls and the upper part of the Wahkeena Falls Trail.
