PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — When Scotty and I met at a cafe in John’s Landing, he had flown in from a small town in northeast Oregon — the first time he had ever been on a plane.
Scotty is a 17-year-old high school junior who has been in foster care most of his life. When asked how many foster homes he’s been in, he said, “50 or more.”
In truth, Scotty has only lived in around 5 placements. But to him, the changes and loss he has been through feels bigger than reality.
He would love to find an adoptive family, a forever home. Sometimes he loses hope but he hangs on.
Imagine being 17 and never really feeling like you have ever had a family you can call your own. Scotty is a very special young man who is thoughtful and kind.
Scotty is Wednesday’s Child for February 7, 2018.
