PORTLAND (KOIN) – The Beavers went down to the Rose Bowl and earned their first conference win in style.
After defeating the UCLA Bruins 48-31, the Beavers are getting a home game with some big-time momentum as they prepare to face off against the Utah Utes.
The Utes were an early pick to win the conference and are 4-1 on the season. In those four wins, they have absolutely dominated their opponents and showed the physicality and mental toughness in order to win the conference, and their only loss so far has come at the hands of the USC Trojans.
The Beavers are going to have their hands full with the Utes. Defensively, they have a handful of guys who will be playing in the NFL, especially on that dominate defensive line where they are ranked in the top 10 for sacks on the season. Offensively, the Utes have a top-five running back in the nation in Zach Moss. Standing at 5’10 and weighing in at 215 pounds Moss is a unit and will surely test the Beavers defense and be a tough opponent.
Joining this week’s episode of Beaver Smack is Carter Bahns, Beaver Blitz staff writer, with the latest news and notes breaking down injuries, recruiting and more. He also gives us a closer look at what it was like being at the Rose Bowl when the Beavers got the win.
Former Oregon State quarterback Darell Garretson also hops on to break down down the Utes defense. Garretson thinks the Beavers won’t have an easy time with this defense but thinks it’s very possible to expose the Utes in areas only one team was successful with.
Finally, current Beavers player Hamilcar Rasheed Jr., the current PAC-12 leader in sacks and TFLs, joins to share his thoughts on the year so far as well as his performance and what it has done so far for the Beavs.
