Denver mayor owes Wheeler a beer after Game 7

The mayors made a bet on the NBA Western Conference Semifinals

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- What better way to toast a sports victory than with a beer from your rival?

That's what Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler expects after the mayor of Denver bet the Nuggets would win the Western Conference Semifinals.

In a tweet on May 1, Mayor Michael B. Hancock said, "I'm so confident in our team that I'd like to make a friendly bet. How about you send over some Portland brew when we take the semis? And we'll do the same IF we don't win."

The Nuggets lead the series after Game 5 but the Blazers made a stunning comeback in Game 7, punching their ticket to the finals with a 100-96 victory.

After the game, Wheeler tweeted he's looking forward to some Denver brews.
