Thorns advance to NWSL Championship with win over Seattle

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The Portland Thorns are heading back to the National Women's Soccer League championship game after defeating Seattle 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Thorns star Lindsey Horan scored the game winning goal in the second half, and assisted on Tobin Heath's game-tying goal in the first.

The Thorns won the title last season over the North Carolina. The Courage were this season's top team - finishing first overall in the standings.

They'll play the Chicago Fire on Tuesday here in Portland.

The NWSL moved the match here because of Hurricane Florence.

The winner of that match will face the Thorns in the NWSL Championship match on Saturday, September 22 at Providence Park.
