Possible transient activity in the unoccupied house

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Firefighters responded to a call about possible transient activity in an unoccupied home at Southeast 88th Avenue this morning and found burning items in the basement.

There was little to no fire that spread in the home.

Neighbors blamed squatters for trashing the home. They said ever since the owner died people have been squatting in the house.

“It’s been bank owned and squatters have been in it and as you can see there’s garbage everywhere,” neighbor Lara Storke told KOIN 6 News. “The place has just been ransacked and torn apart. And from what I understand there’s a lot of syringes for drugs and whatnot inside.”
