Controlled substance intoxication could be a contributing factor

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Salem woman suffered serious injuries after crashing into a tree near a McMinnville Walgreens early Tuesday morning.

McMinnville police began getting reports of a reckless driver in Downtown McMinnville around 6:18 a.m. Callers reported the driver was going around 70 mph and driving the wrong way down Baker Street. The driver allegedly then lost control and crashed into the landscaping near the Baker St. Walgreens.

The driver was identified as a 36-year-old Salem woman. She was sent to the Willamette Valley Medical Center for serious injuries.

It is believed that controlled substance intoxication could be a contributing factor.

Police have asked to hear from anyone who may have dash cam or security footage of the car before the crash. Please call 503.434.7307 with any information.
