BEAVERTON, Oreg. (KOIN) — There’s no doubt that distance learning can be difficult, but one Beaverton family is making the best of the situation. 6-year-old Delaney Jones was recording an arts and crafts tutorial when Delaney’s dad photobombed showing off his impressive dance moves in a video that’s since gone viral.
“I saw that she was doing that and I just wanted to be a goofy dad in the background, and let’s be honest when that song comes on we all have got to but a groove a little bit,” Isaac Jones said.
It wasn’t too long before, brother Teddy and Hunter joined in on the fun, too.
“We just started dancing and she just kept trooping on. She paid no attention whatsoever,” Jones said.
“I just ignored him like its fine … I’m not going to let it annoy me” Delaney added.
But little did Delaney’s family know, she was making that video to send to her first-grade teacher– which she did. Her mother, Jennifer made the discovery while checking Delaney’s school’s virtual classroom app later that day.
“Jenn had called me and I just kind of was like… What… Wait. What. What? I just kind of paused and said, ‘Say what now?'” Jones said. “I had no idea… I just thought she was doing a fun little tutorial.”
“When I found the video I was cracking up … I had emailed her teacher and she responded and said it was hilarious, the best thing she had seen all year,” Jennifer added. “I was like I have to share this to Facebook. I have so many teacher friends that I knew that they would just love it,”
Soon after Delaney’s mom posted the video to Facebook it went viral. As of it Wednesday, it had been viewed more than 12 million times.
“You know, we’re no stranger to having our own hard time in 2020 and distance learning being difficult.. So to know that our family and dynamic was able to organically bring happiness to people really meant a lot to us,” Jones said.
An encore performance? —Jones says stay tuned!
“Dancing in our household is not an uncommon occurrence if you can tell ,” Jones said. “I will be doing a follow-up tutorial video for any dad that needs a little help there.. the elevator move ..all of it.”
