PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Harmony Academy is Oregon’s very first recovery high school.

The school will open to students in a few weeks and serve teens in the Portland metro area who are battling substance abuse and addiction.

“Harmony Academy is a complete comprehensive high school. It is not a stopping off point, it is a destination where kids can learn a complete Oregon diploma and have the social-emotional support that a recovery high school offers,” Board Chair Tony Mann said.

Harmony Academy plans to enroll up to 25 students this year and will serve up to 85 in the next five years.

It’s located on the former Marylhurst University Campus and is tuition-free.
