Salem police corral runaway cow with the help of ‘citizen cowboy’

SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — Salem police had to chase down a rather moody suspect Tuesday afternoon. Lieutenant Treven Upkes told KOIN 6 that officers were called out around 3:00 p.m. to a runaway cow near Portland Road NE and Pine Street NE.

The cow managed to escape the trailer she was in. Officers followed her for about two miles, according to Upkes, and were finally able to corral her in an alley “with the help of a citizen cowboy.”

Salem police shared video of the chase with KOIN 6.

The cow’s owner was able to get her back into the trailer.
