PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Unionized Burgerville workers walked out on strike on Friday.
The strike impacted the Montavilla, Hawthorne and SE 92nd and Powell locations.
On April 23, 2018, the Burgerville in Southeast Portland made history when it became the first federally-recognized fast food workers union. Other Burgervilles followed.
“We understand that we are not meeting every employee’s expectations or needs,” company officials said in a statement on Tuesday. “Burgerville has been negotiating with the Burgerville Workers Union on several fronts and will continue to do so in good faith.”
A bargaining session earlier in the week was rescheduled by company officials after the union called for a strike to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
