PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It’s going to be hot and sunny for the first weekend of August in and around the Portland metro.

Taking a dip in the river or a lake always sounds good on a hot summer day. But your body will react to the water temps differently, so you always need to be ready for cold water temps.

This graphic shows how your body responds when the air and water temps differ.

And wear a life jacket when you go into the water.

Lots of other things are going on this weekend, too, so if you’re going outside here’s what you can expect.

When the Thorns host Sky Blue FC at 8 p.m. at Providence Park, the air temp should be around 79.

If you’re headed to the Clark County Fair, it will be sunny both Saturday and Sunday with highs between 87 and 93.

The Lucky Triathlon takes place in Woodland. Again, sunny skies with highs between 88 and 93.

If you’re just hanging out in the Willamette Valley, keep the sunglasses and sunscreen handy. Hot and sunny all weekend, highs between 88 and 94.
